7 items for £15.59, charity shop buys!

So today started off the 2017 second hand challenge well! It's my last day off before I go back to work so I thought I would pop to a few charity shops to see what I could find, and I got very lucky! Charity shops are great in January because I think a lot of people either get rid of unwanted gifts or have clear outs to start off the new year fresh! And we get to pick up all their goodies! Oxfam was my favourite today! All ladies clothing was £1! Which was amazing! Even if I hadn't have found anything branded, any clothing at £1 is pretty good! But I did find some decent brands! The first thing I picked up was a bright blue wooly Jack Wills jumper, and when I found it I got so excited! It's beautiful! I have tried to look for a price for the original but it's a few years old so no longer sold.
It's supposed to be a size 8, and usually I'm 12/14 but it fits me fine, probably less baggier than it's supposed to be! You can't let sizes in charity shops put you off, if it looks like it will fit, it probably will, but if in doubt try it on :)

Right next to this beautiful jumper was a yellow Animal hoodie! It'sin great condition, and so soft inside! It's xl so oversized for me so perfect for chilling around the house in! I am actually wearing in right now, and don't want to ever take it off! I remember when I was younger at college,I always wanted an Animal hoodie and said that when I got money I would get one straight away, and I never did! This one isn't on the website, it's probably an old one but their hoodies are usually around £40-£50 and ofcourse I got this for £1!

The last piece of clothing I found in Oxfam was a lilac coat originally Primark. I just thought this was quite simple and smart and the colour was really cute too, and for £1 you can't really go wrong can you! I am slowly building my coat collection, and thought this would be a good addition!

The last thing I picked up from Oxfam was a box of cat toys from 'The Natural Pet Company'I couldn't resist it! There are so many toys in it and they all look well made, and not cheap and plastic and Lola is already very impressed with them! She probably didn't need any more toys but now she has a choice... They are selling it on their amazon for £14.95 and I got it for £3.99!

Another Charity shop I found some goodies in was Cancer Research UK. I usually find some good bits in there. It's only quite a small one but if you properly hunt you'll usually find something good! The first thing I saw straight away when I walked through the door was a gorgeous vintage black wooly jumper with red blue and white flowers! It's so cute! I love my patterned jumpers so this is perfect! And was only £2.60!

I then found a little square canvas with beach huts on it which I have put on our bathroom wall! We were looking for one exactly like this but couldn't find anything we liked, or they were too expensive. This was £2!

The last thing I found was actually on a display but I grabbed it off the mannequin head! It's a gorgeous stripey multi-coloured scarf originally from Gap and was £4! It's so cute and I can't wait to wrap up with it for a wintery walk!

Well today was a pretty successful start to 2017's second hand challenge! Hopefully I'll be back soon with some more goodies! Katie x

The Secondhand Challenge

So I haven't blogged in a super long time but its coming to the end of the year and I thought it would be a perfect way to get back into it with a year challenge! A couple of years back I did the charity shop challenge where I only bought my clothes from a charity shop from a year and blogged about it and it was sooooooo much fun! So in 2017 I am going to be doing the second and challenge. This means I am only going to be buying things second hand for the whole year. This includes clothes/shoes/home stuff pretty much everything but food and cosmetics and underwear!
I am excited to get back to the charity shops but also eBay, Depop, thrift shops and fairs, carboots, facebook selling sites, gumtree and many more! I am so excited for this!! I am planning on atleast two blog posts a week! I think the days these will go live will be Wednesday and Sunday but I will have to see what work is like and how I get on but yeah, exciting times! The camera will be coming out again and lots of outfit posts but also flat tours with the second hand stuff we have. I promise I will actually blog for the whole year! Also lots will probably be on snapchat (ktj92) and Instagram (lovelyweatherforducks). Hope you all enjoy reading all my posts throughout 2017 :)

Our flat so far!

On Friday Sam and I moved into our flat! It's now Tuesday, so we haven't been here long at all and I am sure I'll blog more so you will see the progress we make but I thought I would show you what we have done already. It isn't much, we hve basic stuff and not muh furniture but everything we have has been on the cheap so I thought I would talk you through it all :D

Dressing room:

So the flat has a small box like room that is too small for a bedroom really. We decided it was goin to be my dressing room as I own a lottttttt of clothes/shoes/bags/crap and we didn't want to overcrowd our bedroom with my stuff!
The canvas wardrobes are from Sam's parents, I think they used to be in his sister's room when she lived at home. We have two of these in the flat. The big one in the dressing room and a small in the bedroom. They both fitted perfectly where we wanted them and the one n the dressing room is perfect for my shoe collection!

One thing I am currently needing is a dressing table, I have arranged to have one from someone I know for £20 but haven't been able to pick it up yet so have had to deal with what I have for now... the floor and all my stuff, everywhere! Although my makeup is being organised in takeaway tubs which btw is genius and has really helped me separate things well! The grey box to the left of the mirror was from B&M, I think it was like £4 for two!

Bedroom

The most important thing we needed straight away was a bed! Thankfully I had sorted this out a few weeks back as someone on Facebook I knew though friends contacted me knowing I was looking for furniture and offered her bed, mattress and tv stand for £50! I definitely accepted! The bed is seriously the most comfy thing! We both sleep so well on it!
The bedding is dreamy and not in my usual 'cheap budget' but when I walked into John Lewis I fell in love so had to go back and get it! It's really simple but it's not completely blank and boring. The bedding was £35. The fox cushions were from QD years ago and I think they were like 99p each or something! The unicorn and pug were from Sam, the raccoon was from the Christmas clearance at work, for like £4 maybe and the cushions were from Primark so they were not very expensive either

We don't have any shelves at all yet so we don't have many places to keep things except the set of drawers in the bedroom that hold Sam's clothes so at the moment quite a few things are on there including a cake stand with my lipsticks and perfumes. The cake stand was from Tiger and I have another one that is floral that was from Oxfam that holds my nail polishes in my dressing room.

One thing I will probably organise better when we have a bookshelf in the living room is my collection of Post Secret books. I have the whole collection and I loveeeeeeeee them so want them to be on show. The little fox that holds earrings was from Tiger.

I am really happy with the storage we have in the bedroom at the moment. The chest of drawers and wardrobe were from some people that were getting rid of stuff that Sam's parents know so picked them up for us! And the wardrobe from his parents too like the other one, so all free! I thought I would add the fairy lights to make it look prettier.

Living Room

The window sill in the living room with a photo of me and Sam and two prints that my sister got me for Christmas, there is another one somewhere that I need to get a frame for! The floral photo frame was from Sam's parents for Christmas :)

The view from the living room. It's so peaceful here! We are so close to where I used to live, like literally across the road but it's so quieter and peaceful!

The living room is really spacious for us! And I loveeeee it. We are using a temporary sofa at the moment from Sam's parents that was in their summer house but I love it and definitely want a corner sofa when we get our own.

These tables were from a lady on a Facebok selling site and were £20. They were exactly what I had been looking for and I LOVE them. I love the colours and the sizes and for the living room they re perfect. the copper and silver candles were from Newlook, the candle tray was from Tiger with random candleson it, some Yankees. All of the coasters were presents along with the flowers.

Ignore Sam, I couldn't be bothered to tell him to move :P All of the cushions were from Primark here. I plan to get more cushions but these will do for now, they brighten it up a bit. At some point next month we plan to get a dining table to go behind the sofa and a bookcase to go along the wall!

This is going to be our alcohol storage and was from a facebook selling site and think it was £15 or £20! it has wine racks and a little drawer that we have shot glasses and a bottle opener in! The big phot frame with pegs was from Primark. The Star Wars figures were all from me for Sam for his birthday and Christmas and the cards are our cards to each other for Christmas, birthdays and valentines day.

I hope you have enjoyed having a looking at what we have done so far. Next month there will be a lot of changes when we buy more stuff so I will definitely blog about what else we get!

Exciting times

It's been so long since I have last uploaded a blog! November! Woops! I always have the intention of getting back into it regularly but it's so difficult in the house share I currently live in. I am basically just in my bedroom, and have no space for outfit posts, and my room is full of all my crap because there is nowhere else to put it, and there are so many distractions and I have just found it really difficult. Buuuuut I should be moving out this time next month!
I have been property hunting for what seems like forever, and went to a number of views, some were great! Some really not so! All my spare time was on rightmove trying to get the first viewing of the latest flat or house! After all my research and hardwork the flat we should hopefully be moving into was actually not advertised, and we only knew about it because an old friend of mine livs in the flat next foor and told me it was for rent! It is currently being refurbished, with new kitchen suite, bathroom suite, carpets and blinds so when we move in it should feel all new and fresh! It's a 2 bedroom groundfloor flat with a little balcony. The 2nd bedroom is going to be my dressing/blogging room and this makes me so excited because hopefully it means I can blog so much much! Me and Sam will hopefully be doing lots more, as we will have lads more space, and our nights won't just consist of watching something on my laptop on my bed anymore! I want to get into cooking and baking, so expect some blog posts on that too!
I have got a few ideas of blog posts and if I post them I feel like I will have to do it so here goes:
  • monthly favourites
  • daily makeup
  • event makeup and outfit
  • get ready with me
  • my week in instagram
  • home wishlist
  • home tour
  • restaurant reviews
  • days out
I am extremely excited for all of this and can't wait to get started! I may blog a little bit before then as I have a few more days off work and a few things happening, so will try and get my camera out!

So basically sorry I've been shitty, but I'll be back
xoxo

My week on Instagram.

Instagram has got to be my most used app on my phone! I upload atleast once a day! You can tell when I have a day of because I go crazy on there, from breakfast right through until bedtime! I thought I would show you my week using my instagram posts!
I'll start off with November 13th which is more than a week I go I realise, but I had a day off so actually ventured out. This day was also the day of the terrible events in Paris #prayforparis.
As I had a day off I decided to drag my boyfriend and myself out of the house! First we went round dunelm so I could get an airer and a blanket but I actually wanted to buy all of the Christmas things! We then went to pets at home as it's pretty much next door to dunelm. We had no reason to go there except I wanted to look at bunnies. No regrets. After this (the whole reason I wanted to go out) we went to mousehold heath. If you know Norwich you probably know this area. We parked in front of the prison where there is this cute like cafe; Cafe Britannia where we went after walking down a little hill and taking in this incredible view. Some would say Norwich is ugly but I love love love it, especially from up there!
My lunch from the cafe was delicious, look at them thick slices of bread!  😍

Next up we have my cosy little bedroom after me and Sam blitzed it, put up reindeer fairy lights and lit candles! Definitely my happy place. Cushion heaven.

We went to Sam's parent's at the weekend as we had to look after this gorgeous fluffy little thing. I just had to take a photo of him! 😻
A few more photos from his parent's where we chilled out with hot drinks, chocolate and bacon the next morning!

Someone decided to steal my phone...

I purchased this cute mirror in the week from new look! It came with a pen so I can write on it! I decided to get a little creative :)

On Thursday night it was the Norwich city lights up. We went last year and it was a really lovely night so decided to go again this year with a housemate and it was lovely again. Proper got me in the festive mood and I was far too excited to see Tanya burr and Jim chapman switch on the lights!

The church looked so pretty with stars on it!

The street going up to the castle mall just after the lights had been turned on, cute twinkly lights.

I fangirled...

They bring these balls out every year and I swear they are the best bit 🙈 I get far too excited when I touch one.

So I forgot how many photos I had! I may do one of these next week! Hope you enjoyed.
